Brad Renfro's apartment
Death Location in Los Angeles, California
This is the apartment where actor Brad Renfro died from a heroin overdose.
It is located at 1092 South Ogden Drive in Los Angeles, California.
At the time of his death, Renfro was living here with his girlfriend, Samantha Pearson, and her cousin.
Renfro was a child actor who gained recognition for his roles in movies such as Sleepers (1996), Tom and Huck (1995), and The Client (1994).
His journey into the world of Hollywood began when he was just 10 years old. At the time, he was living with his grandmother in a trailer park in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Renfro was cast as the character Mark Sway in the 1994 film The Client because he was a street-smart kid with a rough upbringing.
Although he had no acting experience, he was naturally talented, charismatic, mature, and could easily remember his lines.
In essence, he had the "it factor".
Unfortunately, it wasn't long before his troublesome background and the drug culture of Hollywood intertwined to tragic effect.
By the age of 12, Renfro was reportedly taking heroin and drinking alcohol. Various sources have stated that the young star was mostly left unsupervised.
His parents were seldom present, and his grandmother was reportedly unable to control him. Furthermore, the authority figures on set had little say over what he did once the cameras stopped rolling.
Many people that he met believed that he was much older than he really was due to his maturity. As a result, he started receiving invitations to various parties in Hollywood.
At the age of 15, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana. By the age of 18, he had already been in rehab a number of times.
As he got older, his substance abuse worsened, and he was arrested for crimes such as grand theft, underage drinking, driving under the influence, violating his probation, criminal mischief, and attempted possession of heroin.
Although the actor attempted to get clean in 2007 by completing an outpatient rehab program, it wasn't long before he fell off the wagon again.
On January 15th, 2008, Renfro's girlfriend found him dead at their apartment on South Ogden Drive.
An autopsy determined the 25-year-old died from a heroin overdose.

Apartment
At the time of his death, Renfro was living in this apartment with his on-and-off girlfriend, Samantha Pearson, and her cousin.
His overdose occurred just one week before actor Heath Ledger suffered a similar fate in Manhattan.
In one of his last interviews, Renfro gave advice to people who were interested in pursuing acting as a career.
His comments, which were made four months before his death, turned out to be prophetic:
"There's so much competition, it's really about persistence. You have to just keep at it. If I'm two inches too short, the role probably goes to another guy, so you really have to learn to be secure with yourself and know that rejection is part of it.
This is going to sound silly, man, but I would tell them to stay the hell away from the party scene. Anything you put in front of your goal, whether it's too much gambling, too much food, or too many beers on the weekend. Anything you put in front of the prize is going to end up getting in the way and hurting you in the end.
Unfortunately, not many people are lucky enough to traverse through things like that. And a lot of people don't make it. They don't live through it."
