This is the apartment building where actor Brad Renfro died from a heroin overdose.
It is situated at 1092 South Ogden Drive in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
At the time, Renfro was living here with his girlfriend and her cousin.
Renfro was a child actor who starred in movies such as Sleepers (1996), Tom and Huck (1995), and The Client (1994).
His foray into the world of Hollywood began when he was just 10 years old. At the time, he was living with his grandmother in a trailer park in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Renfro was cast as the character Mark Sway in the film The Client (1994) because he was a street-smart kid who had a rough upbringing.
Although he had no acting experience, he was naturally talented, charismatic, mature and could easily remember his lines.
In other words, he had the "it factor".
Sadly, it wasn't long before his troublesome background and the drug culture of Hollywood intertwined with one another to deadly effect.
By the age of 12, Renfro was reportedly taking heroin and drinking alcohol. Various sources have stated that the young star was left unsupervised for the most part.
His parents were rarely around, and his grandmother was reportedly unable to control him. Furthermore, the authority figures on set had little say over what he did once the cameras stopped rolling.
Because of his maturity, many people believed that he was much older than he really was. As a result, he started to drift towards Hollywood's party scene.
At the age of 15, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana. By the age of 18, he had already been in rehab a number of times.
In the years that followed, his substance abuse continued to worsen. During this period, he was arrested for crimes such as grand theft, underage drinking, driving under the influence, violating his probation, criminal mischief, and attempted possession of heroin.
Although the actor attempted to get clean in 2007 by completing an outpatient rehab program, it wasn't long before his old habits resurfaced and he fell off the wagon again.
On January 15th, 2008, Brad Renfro's girlfriend found him dead at their apartment on South Ogden Drive.
According to the autopsy report, the 25-year-old died from a heroin overdose.
