Lindsay Lohan's 2005 crash site

This is the location of Lindsay Lohan's October 2005 crash.

It is situated north of the intersection between North Robertson Boulevard and Alden Drive in Los Angeles, California.

At roughly 5 p.m. on October 4th, 2005, Lohan was driving north on Robertson Boulevard in her black Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG when she crashed into the side of a red Chevrolet Astro van.

Lohan was not at fault, however, as the driver of the van was performing an illegal U-turn.

Following the collision, the 19-year-old Mean Girls actress jumped out of her convertible and ran into a nearby Hideaway House Antiques store to hide from the paparazzi.

Witnesses at the scene said that several photographers were pursuing Lohan on foot.

Although Lohan's publicist blamed the paparazzi for the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department later clarified that they were not involved.

The van's driver, Raymundo Ortega, denied responsibility for the accident. In June 2007, he sued the actress for $200,000 in damages and claimed that she had been drinking at a celebrity hot spot called The Ivy shortly before the crash occurred. He also sued The Ivy for allegedly serving alcohol to a minor.

However, a police report disputed this claim, as one of the responding officers wrote that there was no evidence that Lohan was intoxicated.

The lawsuit was filed at a time when the troubled actress was frequently in and out of rehab.

Lohan settled with Ortega for an undisclosed amount in February 2008.
