On August 4th, 1892, the Borden family home became the scene of an infamous double homicide.

The couple's 32-year-old daughter, Lizzie Borden, was arrested and charged with the murders after she exhibited odd behavior and gave contradictory answers to the police.

However, following a highly publicized trial, she was eventually found not guilty.

The case remains officially unsolved to this day.

The mystery surrounding the Borden murders has captivated public imagination for over a century, inspiring books, films, and even a folk rhyme:

"Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one."

Today, the Borden house operates as a museum and a bed and breakfast. Visitors can tour the property, which includes original furnishings and artifacts from the time of the killings.
