The parking lot where Morgan Nick was abducted

Crime Scene Location Alma, Arkansas

This is the parking lot where six-year-old Morgan Nick was abducted.

It is situated on Walnut Street in Alma, Arkansas.

On the night of Friday, June 9th, 1995, Morgan and her mother attended a Little League baseball game at the Wofford baseball field in Alma.

At around 10.30 p.m., her mother reluctantly gave her permission to catch fireflies with her friends at a nearby sand pile behind the stands.

Map
This map highlights the abduction site. The former Little League field no longer exists, as it was converted into a parking lot. At the time, there was a sandy parking area near the corner of Locke and Walnut Streets.

Approximately fifteen minutes later, her friends saw her standing by her mother's Nissan Stanza in the upper parking lot. At the time, she was emptying sand from her shoes and talking to a "creepy man" near a red truck.

Abduction
The site, as seen from Walnut Street. Morgan's mother, Colleen, parked her car somewhere inside the red rectangle. Colleen was sitting about 40–50 yards to the right.

Witnesses at the ballpark later recalled seeing a red pickup truck with a white camper shell in the lot.

Red pickup truck
Investigators became interested in this red pickup truck after learning that it left around the same time that Morgan went missing. Separate witnesses also said that the man in the truck "creeped them out."

A 70-year-old local man named Billy Jack Lincks soon became a person of interest, as he drove a similar truck.

Although Lincks was questioned, he denied knowing anything about Morgan's abduction and was subsequently released.

Billy Jack Lincks
Lincks (top-left) lived in Van Buren, approximately nine miles west of Alma.

Twelve weeks later, on August 29th, 1995, he was arrested for an unrelated child solicitation case. The following year, he was convicted of the crime and sentenced to six years in prison.

Van Buren
Approximately three months after Morgan's disappearance, Lincks tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his truck. The incident occurred at a Sonic Drive-In on the corner of Broadway and 5th Street in Van Buren.

Despite more than 10,000 leads, the investigation into Morgan's disappearance failed to identify a suspect for 25 years.

Parking lot
Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer recently pointed to the exact spot during a news segment about Morgan's disappearance. He said that it was just up the hill.

In 2020, a major breakthrough in the cold case came when investigators managed to locate the red truck that Lincks had owned in 1995. After getting permission from the current owner to inspect the vehicle, detectives vacuumed the interior and collected several canisters of material, which included hair.

The evidence was sent to a company called Othram Labs, which specializes in advanced DNA analysis. In September 2024, the lab concluded that a blonde, rootless hair found in the truck belonged to either Morgan's mother, one of her siblings, or one of her children.

Since the Nick family had no connection to Lincks, the evidence strongly indicated that Morgan had been inside his truck.

House
Publicly accessible court documents from Lincks' August 1995 arrest show that he was living on Circle H Lane, which is situated on the northern outskirts of Van Buren.

Lincks is now considered the prime suspect in the abduction. However, he died in prison on August 5th, 2000, at the age of 75.

Morgan Nick remains missing to this day.
