The house where Rebecca French was murdered

This is the house where Rebecca French was murdered.

It is located at 17 Ard Na Dara in Wexford, County Wexford.

French was killed at this residence on October 9th, 2009. The cause of death was determined to be blunt-force trauma to the face and head.

On the day of the incident, French was socializing at this house with a group of men and another woman.

It is believed that the 30-year-old mother of two was punched after she became embroiled in an argument with one of the men.

When French threatened to report the assault to the police, she was repeatedly kicked and struck with a golf club.

Afterwards, members of the group wrapped a plastic bag around her head, placed her body in the trunk of a car, drove it to a nearby road called Codd's Lane, and set it on fire.

French's remains were discovered after the emergency services responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

A post-mortem examination indicated that she had died at the house, as there were no traces of smoke or soot in her lungs.

When the police entered this property in Ard Na Dara, they discovered pieces of rubber gloves, cable ties, and women’s jewelry in the ashes of the fireplace. Speckles of the victim's blood were also found on some of the furniture.

Two Lithuanian nationals, Ruslanas Minekas and Ricardus Dilys, were initially charged with French's murder. However, prosecutors were forced to drop the charges after it emerged that the two men were intoxicated during their arrest and that a doctor had failed to specify the exact time when they would be fit for questioning.

In December 2010, Minekas, Dilys, Patrick O'Connor, and Piotr Pasiak received an eight-year prison sentence after they all pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of impeding the prosecution. The other woman in the house, Helen Connors, was eventually acquitted of impeding the inquiry into French's murder.
