The alley where Candice Welch's body was found.
Crime Scene Location in Bakersfield, California, United States.
This is the location where the body of Candice Welch was found.
The alley is situated in the 300 block of Goodman Street in Bakersfield, California.
It runs between Alta Vista Drive and North Inyo Street.
Shortly before midnight on May 5th, 2020, Welch's remains were discovered in a trash can in the middle of the alley.
According to her father, Perry Welch, she had been strangled to death. The killer also reportedly cut her tattoos and "crushed" her hands and face with "something."
This may have been a hasty attempt to hinder her identification.
The 25-year-old's body was found one block away from her father's house in East Bakersfield.
In December of 2020, Perry told KGET News that he was in Pismo Beach when his daughter was killed.
It is his belief that she may have been murdered at his place while he was out of town.
During the same interview, he also claimed that a group of men pulled up in front of him and told him to stop asking questions about his daughter:
"They tell me, 'You need to stop asking questions about your daughter or you'll end up just like her.'"
Although Perry says that his daughter had a history of drug abuse, he is not sure if her death was drug-related.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that it is an ongoing homicide investigation. However, they have released very few details about the case.
As of October, 2022, the coroner's office has yet to release an official cause of death.
Candice's murder remains unsolved.
