Judith Barsi's house

This is the house where American child actress Judith Barsi was murdered.

It is situated at 22100 Michale Street in Los Angeles, California.

On July 25th, 1988, Judith's father, József, walked into her bedroom and shot her dead while she was sleeping. When Judith's mother ran down the hallway to investigate the noise, he opened fire and killed her as well.

For the next day or two, József remained inside the house by himself.

On the morning of July 27th, he poured gasoline over his wife and daughter and set their bodies on fire. He then walked into the garage and committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

At the time of her death, Judith was just 10 years old.

During her career as a child actress, she appeared in commercials, TV shows, and movies such as Jaws: The Revenge (1987).

Shortly before her murder, Judith voiced the animated characters Ducky in The Land Before Time (1988) and Anne-Marie in All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989).

In the years leading up to the murder-suicide, Judith's father had become an abusive alcoholic who regularly threatened his wife and daughter with violence. When Judith's career began to flourish, József's behavior worsened. As time went on, he became increasingly paranoid that his wife was planning on leaving him.

On one occasion, he even threatened to cut Judith's throat with a knife.

Although Judith's mother, Maria, promised friends that she would divorce her violent husband, she seemingly backed out of doing so because of fears that she would lose their family home.

Sadly, on the night of July 25th, 1988, her husband decided to follow through on his threats.

Barsi family

Barsi family

József Barsi was a Hungarian-American plumber who had a drinking problem. In the early 1970s, his first wife divorced him because of his abusive and violent behavior.

Following his divorce, József moved to California, where he met Judith's mother, Maria. At the time, she was working as a waitress.

Judith was born shortly after the couple were married.

As the years went by, his alcoholism worsened, and his threatening behavior continued to escalate. On one occasion, he threw pots and pans at Maria. He also threatened to burn the house down.
