The location where the Slender Man stabbing took place

Crime Scene Location Waukesha, Wisconsin

This is the location where the "Slenderman stabbing" took place.

It is located on Big Bend Road in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

On May 31st, 2014, two 12-year-old girls, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, lured their friend, Payton Leutner, into a wooded area near David's Park.

During a game of hide-and-seek, Geyser and Weier pinned Leutner down and stabbed her 19 times with a five-inch-long knife.

Geyser was the primary attacker, while Weier took part and encouraged it.

Crime scene
These days, the area looks completely different, as the woods were cleared out for development.

The girls later told investigators that the attack was an attempt to please the fictional internet character "Slender Man." They believed that by killing their friend, they would become his servants and protect their families from his wrath.

David's Park
This Google Street View image was taken in August 2023. We located the area using photographs and media footage of the crime scene. At the time, this area was situated next to David's Park. However, since then, developers have built a lot of houses in the area. David's Park is now a much smaller playground on the other side of the block.

After the attack, Weier and Geyser left Leutner for dead and began walking towards the Nicolet National Forest, where they believed Slender Man lived in a mansion.

Notably, the forest in question is approximately 200 miles away from this location.

Miraculously, Leutner managed to crawl out of the woods onto a path, where she was found by a passing cyclist. She was then rushed to the hospital, where surgeons spent six hours saving her life.

Leutner narrowly escaped death, as one of the stab wounds missed a major artery by less than a millimeter.

Weier and Geyser were arrested later that day. Both were charged with attempted intentional homicide.

Arrest
The two girls were arrested five miles north, near Steinhafel's Furniture Store on Interstate 94. The knife was found in one of their bags.

In 2017, they were found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a state mental health facility. She was granted a conditional release in 2021.

Geyser was sentenced to the maximum of 40 years in a state mental institution. A key factor in the court's verdict and sentencing was the fact that Geyser was diagnosed with early-onset schizophrenia and had experienced hallucinations since childhood.

In July 2025, a judge agreed to her conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. The conditions of her release have not been made public.
