Ferris Bueller's house

This is the house from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986).

It is situated at 4160 Country Club Drive in Long Beach, California.

In the movie, Bueller lives with his parents, Tom and Katie, and his sister, Jeanie, in the leafy suburbs of Chicago.

However, in real life, all of the scenes for their family home were filmed at this location in Long Beach, California.

Following a day of truant adventures, Ferris needs to sprint back to this residence before his parents return from work.

Unfortunately, his jealous and begrudging sister, Jeanie, is trying her best to make sure that he gets caught. After seeing him running through the neighborhood, she proceeds to speed home so that she can get there first and lock him out.

To complicate matters even further, Ferris' principal, Ed Rooney, is also snooping around.

By that point, Rooney is so fiercely determined to expose the high school student's truancy that he is willing to trespass on the property.

His determination finally pays off when he catches the high school senior trying to sneak in through the backdoor.

Fortunately for Ferris, his sister, Jeanie, has a sudden, unexpected change of heart.

While Rooney is threatening her brother with an extra year in high school, she opens the door and immediately vouches for his illness.

She then holds up a wallet and says, "By the way, Mr. Rooney. You left your wallet on the kitchen floor", before tossing it into the swimming pool.

4160 Country Club Drive

This is a "then and now" image of 4160 Country Club Drive in Los Cerritos.

The house was built in 1928. It is 4,900 square feet in size and has seven bedrooms.

The image at the top shows Ferris Bueller's sister, Jeanie, pulling up outside her family home. At the time, she was incensed about the fact that her brother always managed to get away with everything. Despite his repeated truancy, their parents seemed to believe that he could do no wrong.

This scene was filmed in November 1985.

The Google Street View image at the bottom was taken in May 2022—almost 37 years later.

Jeanie races home

Jeanie races her mother's car home so that she can prevent Ferris from sneaking in through the back.

As she is pulling into the driveway, her brother is jumping over fences and sprinting through people's yards.

Bueller's parents are blissfully unaware that he spent his afternoon attending museums, eating at fancy restaurants, watching baseball games, and taking part in parades. As far as they're concerned, he has been sick in bed all day.

By cutting him off, Jeanie hopes that her parents will finally learn that their darling son is a lying truant.
