This is the location where Chris Watts buried his wife and two daughters.
It is situated about 3 miles north of Roggen, Colorado.
In the early hours of August 13th, 2018, Watts murdered his pregnant wife, Shanann, at their house in Frederick.
He also attempted to smother their daughters, Bella (4) and Celeste (3). However, they reportedly survived and "woke up."
After loading Shanann into his vehicle and covering her body with bags, he put Bella and Celeste in the backseat and drove eastward towards this oilfield near Roggen.
The property was owned by Anadarko Petroleum. At the time, Chris worked for the company as an oilfield operator.
Once he reached the site, he smothered his two daughters and dumped their bodies in two separate oil tanks.
Afterwards, he buried Shanann's remains in a shallow grave on the southeastern side of the property.
The bodies were discovered three days later, after Chris broke down under police questioning.
On November 6th, 2018, he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder.
Two weeks later, he was sentenced to five life sentences without the possibility of parole.
