Hawkins High School from Stranger Things

This is the filming location of Hawkins Middle School and High School from the Netflix series Stranger Things.

It is situated at 109 South Lee Street in Stockbridge, Georgia.

The building was originally the home of Patrick Henry High School, which closed in 2015 after its board of education decided to relocate to McDonough and rename itself the Excel Academy.

Shortly afterwards, the production team behind the series seized the opportunity to rent the recently-vacated property and use it as a filming set.

A number of important scenes take place here during the first season.

At the end of Season 1, Eleven and the rest of the group break into Hawkins Middle School while they are on the run from Dr. Martin Brenner and his agents.

Once inside, they create a makeshift sensory deprivation tank to amplify Eleven's powers. By increasing her psychokinetic abilities, they hope that she will be able to locate their missing friend Will in the "Upside Down" world.

In the finale of Season 1, Brenner and his agents swarm the school, hoping to recapture Eleven and bring her back to the laboratory. However, at that point, they are attacked by a humanoid Demogorgon creature from the "Upside Down".

After taking out the agents, the Demogorgon shifts its attention to the group.

As it is charging towards them, all hope seems lost until Eleven suddenly emerges from the back and destroys the creature with her powers.

She then vanishes into thin air.

Episode 7, Season 1 - The Bathtub

The Chief of Police, Jim Hopper, drives the group to Hawkins Middle School.

At the time, they had just learned that they needed 1,500 pounds of salt to create a homemade sensory deprivation tank.

They decide to go to the school after Hopper remembers that it has dozens of bags of de-icing salt.
