Struggles
Miller struggled with drug addiction. In the months leading up to his death, he experienced a highly publicized breakup with pop star Ariana Grande. The couple started dating in February 2016, but Grande ended the relationship nearly two years later.
A week after the breakup, Miller crashed a white 2016 Mercedes G-Class into a utility pole while under the influence.
Following the collision, the rapper and two passengers left the scene on foot.
When police traced the vehicle to his home, he admitted to driving under the influence and was arrested. In a July 2018 interview, Miller described the incident as a "wake-up call" that forced him to confront the reality of his lifestyle.
Death
On September 7, 2018, Miller's personal assistant arrived at his residence and discovered him unresponsive in the bedroom.
Paramedics arrived and performed CPR, but Miller was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes later. A coroner's report indicated he had died several hours earlier.
The coroner determined Miller died of a toxic mixture of alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl.
An investigation revealed that he had unknowingly purchased counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl. Three men were later charged and sentenced to federal prison for supplying the drugs.
Mack Miller and the Most Dope Family
The reality series "Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family" was not filmed at this location. The show was filmed at his previous rental house in Silver Triangle, about two miles north of Valleycrest Road.
