The house is in the Hollywood Hills. Built in 1978, it has five bedrooms and is approximately 3,950 square feet. Google Maps has blurred the property at the owner's request.

At the time of the shooting, the house was owned by The Real Housewives television personality Teddi Mellencamp.

Jackson, who was on a four-day trip to California, had been renting it through Airbnb.

Mellencamp sold the house for $2.7 million in August 2020.

Murder

On February 18, 2020, Jackson and his friend, Michael Durodola (Mike Dee), uploaded Instagram photos of themselves posing by the swimming pool and next to a Range Rover in the driveway.

The rapper also shared a photo of a package from fashion designer Mike Amiri. However, both the package and the Range Rover image revealed the house's address.

The following morning, at around 4 a.m., four men entered the residence through a balcony door at the rear.

These aerial photographs of the house were taken on the day of the murder. Investigators believe his assailants entered through the rear balcony.

During the break-in, Jackson was inside the house with a woman, Amelia Rose. Rose was in the bedroom when the intruders entered.

Upon seeing her, one of the men reportedly pointed a gun at her head and said, "Shut up, or I will kill you."

Rose later stated she believed the men would kill her and that she would never see her mother again.

After confronting Rose, the men proceeded to the bathroom, where they found the rapper. Rose said Jackson was surprised and shouted, "What?"

The intruders ordered him to hand over his jewelry. Investigators believe Jackson initially complied but resisted when they tried to steal his diamond-studded Rolex.

Rose later told her followers on Instagram that she was distraught after the incident and could not stop crying.

During the struggle, the rapper was pistol-whipped and shot three times. He ran downstairs, but the intruders pursued and shot him again.

Once Rose was certain the men had left, she went downstairs and found Jackson lying on the floor.

Police arrived at the scene within six minutes. A friend of the rapper was arrested at the house but released after investigators ruled out his involvement.

He was pronounced dead at 5:12 a.m.

One adult and three juveniles were eventually arrested and charged with the crime. The adult was identified as 19-year-old Corey Walker.

In 2025, Walker pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of robbery. He was sentenced to 29 years in prison.

The other three suspects reached similar plea agreements handled through the juvenile system.
