The Palace Arcade from Stranger Things: Filming Location

This is the Palace Arcade from the Netflix sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.

It is situated at 6501 Church Street in Douglasville, Georgia.

In real life, the building is not an arcade. Instead, the production team rented out a former dry cleaners.

The arcade makes its first appearance at the start of Season 2, when Mike and his friends cycle there to play games such as Dragon's Lair, Dig Dug, and Centipede.

During the scene, an arcade employee called Keith informs Dustin that an unidentified player called MADMAX has beaten all of his high scores.

The group is so shocked that someone could achieve such a high score that they immediately begin to badger Keith to reveal the person's identity.

However, he tells them that he won't give them any information unless Mike agrees to set him up on a date with his sister.

Mike refuses to agree to such a deal, arguing that he will not "prostitute" his sister.

While the group is arguing with Keith, Will wanders off and begins to hallucinate that he is still in the "Upside Down" dimension. He also sees a large ball of fire in the sky.

During his vision, the arcade appears dark and empty.

Moments later, he snaps back into reality after Mike follows him outside and asks him if he is OK.

However, he loses the game after the dragon kills him while he is attempting to retrieve the sword.

"You sure about that?"

Keith from Stranger Things

After losing at Dragon's Lair, Dustin states, "Whatever. I'm still top on Centipede and Dig Dug."

At that point, an arcade employee called Keith interjects and says, "You sure about that?"

Dig Dug

Dig Dug

Dustin learns that a player called MADMAX has beaten his high score in the maze game "Dig Dug" by a considerable amount.

Interestingly, the show got the high score list for "Dig Dug" slightly wrong. The original game only allowed players to enter three characters, not six.

Lucas' score is visible underneath Dustin's. There is also an unknown player called JKRACH.

"Spill it, Keith."

The "Upside Down"

After stepping outside of the Palace Arcade, Will can see that the sky above the "Upside Down" version of Hawkins is filled with fire. This suggests to the viewer that something evil is coming.
