The Palace Arcade from Stranger Things
Filming Location in Douglasville, Georgia, United States
This is the filming location of the Palace Arcade from Netflix's sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.
It is situated at 6501 Church Street in Douglasville, Georgia.
In real life, the building is not an arcade. Instead, the production team rented out a former dry cleaners.
The arcade makes its first appearance at the start of Season 2, when Mike and his friends cycle there to play games such as Dragon's Lair, Dig Dug, and Centipede.
During the scene, an arcade employee called Keith informs Dustin that an unidentified player called MADMAX has beaten all of his high scores.
The group is so shocked that someone could achieve such a high score that they immediately begin to badger Keith to reveal the person's identity.
However, he tells them that he won't give them any information unless Mike agrees to set him up on a date with his sister.
Mike refuses to agree to such a deal, arguing that he will not "prostitute" his sister.
While the group is arguing with Keith, Will wanders off and begins to hallucinate that he is still in the "Upside Down" dimension. He also sees a large ball of fire in the sky.
During his vision, the arcade appears dark and empty.
Moments later, he snaps back into reality after Mike follows him outside and asks him if he is OK.

Episode 1, Season 2 - MADMAX
During this scene, Dustin is playing an interactive film game called "Dragon's Lair", which was released in 1983.
However, he loses the game after the dragon kills him while he is attempting to retrieve the sword.
"You sure about that?"
After losing at Dragon's Lair, Dustin states, "Whatever. I'm still top on Centipede and Dig Dug."
At that point, an arcade employee called Keith interjects and says, "You sure about that?"
Dustin learns that a player called MADMAX has beaten his high score in the maze game "Dig Dug" by a considerable amount.
Interestingly, the show got the high score list for "Dig Dug" slightly wrong. The original game only allowed players to enter three characters, not six.
Lucas' score is visible underneath Dustin's. There is also an unknown player called JKRACH.
"Spill it, Keith."
The group orders Keith to tell them who MADMAX is.
However, he refuses to give them any information unless he can get a date with Mike's sister, Nancy.
While the group is arguing with Keith, Will begins to hallucinate that he is back in the "Upside Down" world.
During this scene, the arcade appears dark, empty, and overgrown with vines. The screens begin to flicker and spores can be seen floating through the air.
The "Upside Down"
After stepping outside of the Palace Arcade, Will can see that the sky above the "Upside Down" version of Hawkins is filled with fire. This suggests to the viewer that something evil is coming.
This Google Street View image is from March of 2017.
By that point, the exterior of the property had been completely transformed.
By December of 2019, the unit was empty again.
Lucas and Dustin watch through binoculars as Billy Hargrove drops his stepsister, Max Mayfield, off at the front of the arcade.
During this scene, Billy and Max are having a pretty intense argument. Seconds later, she slams the car door shut and gives him the middle finger.
Episode 8, Season 3 - The Battle of Starcourt
By the end of Season 3, Keith has started working at a video rental store called "Family Video", which is next door to the Palace.
