The funeral parlor from The Wire

This is the funeral parlor from The Wire.

It is located at 1701 McCulloh Street in Baltimore, Maryland.

Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell start using the building as their main headquarters after the police raid Orlando's club.

In the finale of Season 1, Avon's sister, Brianna, visits the parlor to speak to them. However, they are so worried about the possibility of bugs that they immediately shush her and bring her outside.

Once they're on the sidewalk, Brianna asks:

"Y'all really that paranoid? You ain't even been up in there before."

In response, Avon explains that they are no longer going to discuss business indoors.

Stringer's meetings

Stringer uses the building to chair meetings with his subordinates in Season 3. During the meetings, the gang's hardened drug dealers must politely raise their hands and wait for permission to speak.

In one scene, Stringer Bell explains that "the game isn't about holding street corners anymore."

Instead, it's about "the product." The organization can make more money and draw far less attention to itself by supplying the competition with its package:

"Territory ain't sh*t. Especially when you consider it's the fight for the territory that be bringing the bodies, and the bodies that bring the police."

However, Stringer's dealers are set in their ways. They care more about their pride and reputation than the organization's profit margins.

Poot sums up the mood in the room by raising his hand and asking:

"Do the chair know we gonna look like some punk ass b*tches out there?"

The question infuriates Stringer, who tells them that they need to start thinking like grown men instead of gangsters off the street corner.
