The car wash where Orlando Anderson was killed
This is the site where Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson was killed.
It sits on the corner of Alondra Boulevard and South Oleander Avenue in Compton, California.
At the time of the shooting, it was Rob's Car Wash. The property was demolished between 2018 and 2019 to make way for the new Compton High School.

Background
Anderson was a member of the South Side Crips, a street gang based in Compton.
He came to public attention after the media named him as a suspect in the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur.
Roughly 16 months after the rapper's death, Anderson was killed in an unrelated incident between rival Crip factions.
Death
On May 29, 1998, Anderson (23), Michael Stone (41), and Jerry Stone (24) were fatally wounded during a shootout at Rob's Car Wash.
A fourth man, Michael Reed Dorrough, was also seriously injured.

That day, Anderson and Dorrough were driving along Alondra Boulevard when they saw Jerry Stone and his uncle, Michael Stone, outside the car wash.
Anderson pulled in to confront Jerry over an unpaid drug debt.
Shortly afterward, the dispute escalated, and both sides opened fire on each other.
Dorrough, the only survivor, attempted to flee the scene but crashed his vehicle due to the severity of his injuries.
In 1999, he was sentenced to three life terms in prison without the possibility of parole.
Tupac Shakur
In July 1996, Anderson and other Crips allegedly attacked Trevon "Tre" Lane at a mall in Lakewood, California.
Lane was a member of the rival M.O.B. Pirus and an associate of Death Row Records.
On the night of September 7, 1996, Anderson and his fellow gang members attended a boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
While there, they learned that Lane, Shakur, and the rest of the Death Row Records entourage were also in attendance.
When the fight ended, Anderson told members of his group that he was going to the restroom. One associate offered to accompany him, as they were aware of what might happen if he crossed paths with Lane. However, Anderson assured him it would be okay.
Lane spotted Anderson standing in the lobby and pointed him out to Shakur. The rapper and other members of the Death Row entourage attacked Anderson, kicking him while he lay on the ground.
Approximately two hours later, Shakur was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting on East Flamingo Road.
The timeline of events led to speculation that Anderson and his associates carried out the killing in retaliation for the assault at the MGM Grand.
Although Anderson denied any involvement in the rapper's death, the Compton Police Department formally named him as a suspect in an affidavit.
In 2018, Anderson's uncle, Duane "Keffe D" Davis, began publicly claiming that he was present when his nephew shot Shakur. According to Davis, the group went looking for the Death Row entourage in a white Cadillac.
Grand jury testimony disputes Davis' claim that Anderson killed Shakur. One gang affiliate testified that Anderson was supposed to fire the weapon but didn't have a clear shot. Consequently, he passed the pistol to a Crip member named DeAndre "Big Dre" Smith, who opened fire.
The group reportedly stayed quiet about Smith's involvement to protect Anderson's reputation, as gang code stipulated that he should be the one to pull the trigger.
In September 2023, Davis was charged with Shakur's murder. His trial is scheduled to begin in August 2026.
