However, in real life, all of the scenes for their family home were filmed at this location in Long Beach, California.

Following a day of truant adventures, Ferris needs to sprint home before his parents return from work.

Unfortunately, his jealous and begrudging sister, Jeanie, is trying her best to make sure that he gets caught. After seeing him running through the neighborhood, she proceeds to speed home so that she can get there first and lock him out.

Jeanie races home to cut Ferris off, hoping that their parents will finally learn that he has been lying and playing truant. Bueller's parents are unaware that he spent his afternoon attending museums, eating at fancy restaurants, and watching baseball games.

To complicate matters even further, Ferris' principal, Ed Rooney, is also snooping around.

By that point, Rooney is so fiercely determined to expose the high school student's truancy that he is willing to trespass on the property.

His determination finally pays off when he catches the high school senior trying to sneak in through the backdoor.

Fortunately for Ferris, his sister, Jeanie, has a sudden, unexpected change of heart.

While Rooney is threatening her brother with an extra year in high school, she opens the door and vouches for his illness.

She then holds up a wallet and says, "By the way, Mr. Rooney. You left your wallet on the kitchen floor," before tossing it into the swimming pool.
