This is the mall from Stranger Things.

It is situated at 2100 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, Georgia.

This location features prominently in Season 3.

In the show, the Starcourt Mall is situated at 10 Old Highway 77 in Hawkins, Indiana.

However, in real life, it is a largely vacant mall called Gwinnett Place Mall.

During Season 3, Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley work together at an ice cream parlor called Scoops Ahoy, which is in the food court.

Later, it comes to light that the mall is merely a front to conceal the Soviet Union's construction of a covert underground military base.

In "Battle of Starcourt" (S3E8), the food court becomes the scene of the final confrontation between Eleven, "Flayed" Billy, and the Mind Flayer.

Production

The production team selected the building because it was disused and had multiple vacant shopfronts. This gave them full artistic freedom to rebrand the exterior and create fictional 80s-style stores.

Because it was built in 1982, it also matched the desired postmodern architecture of the period.

The retro-style neon signs in the show were taken down shortly after filming was completed to prevent fans from vandalizing the building or stealing souvenirs.
