The site where Valerie Mack and Tatiana Dykes were found
On April 4th, 2011, a police search team discovered two sets of human remains at this section of Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach.
The first set included the skull, hands, and foot of an adult woman. The second was the skeleton of a female toddler who had been wrapped in a blanket.
Due to their close proximity to one another, it was initially presumed that the two remains belonged to a mother and child. However, DNA testing proved they were unrelated.
The partial adult remains belonged to a sex worker named Valerie Mack, whose torso had been found in a wooded area in Manorville 10 years prior.
The toddler, on the other hand, was found to be the daughter of an unidentified murder victim called Peaches Doe.
Peaches' remains had been dumped in Hempstead Lake State Park in June 1997.
This indicated that Baby Doe had also likely died in 1997.
In April 2025, the Nassau County Police Department publicly announced that the victims had been identified as Tanya Denise Jackson (26) and her two-year-old daughter, Tatiana Dykes.
