The site where Tanya Jackson's extremities were found
This is the site where the partial remains of Tanya Jackson were found.
It is located in the bushes beside Ocean Parkway near Jones Beach State Park.
In 2011, the police launched a large-scale search of Jones Beach Island after the remains of four women were discovered at a site that is 3.7 miles west of this area.
Discovery
On April 11, 2011, the police discovered the arms and legs of a woman at this section of the thicket.
A week earlier, on April 4, 2011, the authorities found the remains of a female toddler near Overlook Beach.
DNA tests confirmed that the arms and legs belonged to an unidentified woman whose torso had been dumped at Hempstead Lake State Park in June 1997. The victim was nicknamed "Peaches" because she had a tattoo of a peach on her left breast.
Further testing revealed that Peaches was the mother of the child.
The killer went to great lengths to hinder their identification.
Following the murders, he dismembered Peaches' body and used three separate dump sites.
After dumping Peaches' torso at Hempstead Lake State Park, the killer placed her arms and legs into a plastic bag and disposed of them in the thicket beside Ocean Parkway. He also dumped the child's remains further east.
Identification
The victims remained unidentified until April 2025, when the Nassau County Police Department publicly identified them as 26-year-old Tanya Denise Jackson and two-year-old Tatiana Dykes.
For years, investigators believed that Jackson was a victim of the Gilgo Beach serial killer.
However, in December 2025, Nassau officials arrested Tatiana's father, Andrew Dykes (66), in connection with the murders.
