Ricky Gervais' house in After Life
This is the house where Ricky Gervais' character, Tony Johnson, lives in the series After Life.
In the show, the house is in the fictional town of Tambury. However, in real life, it is located in a cul-de-sac called Vale of Health, which is just outside Hampstead, in the north of London.

Gervais was likely familiar with the area, as he lived in Hampstead between 2006 and 2015.

The vast majority of TV shows film their interior scenes on a production set. Gervais, however, chose to use the interior of the house, as he felt it gave the shots a more authentic feel.

Show
Tony is a widower who recently lost his wife, Lisa, to breast cancer.
Depressed and suicidal, he lives alone with his German Shepherd, "Brandy the Dog," who is his sole reason for living after his wife's death.

Tony is grumpy and vents his grief by starting fights and making hurtful, sarcastic remarks about others.
One example of this behavior is his recurring argument with "Postman Pat," which begins when Pat tries to hand Tony his mail instead of putting it through the letterbox.

Pat is an idiosyncratic character who irritates Tony. Despite this, the pair eventually learn to get along.

Later, Tony begins to accept his grief and find contentment. He also becomes more mindful of people's feelings.

Although he starts a relationship with a nurse named Emma, he struggles with the guilt of moving on from his late wife. Consequently, he decides to end things and remain friends instead.

By the end of the show, Tony comes to realize that his life is worth living.
