The site where Kimberly Leach's remains were discovered

On the morning of February 9, 1978, serial killer Ted Bundy abducted 12-year-old Kimberly Leach from her school in Lake City, Florida.

Nearly two months later, her decomposed remains were found in an abandoned hog trap at this site in Suwannee River State Park.

The cause of death was "violence to the neck area", which caused a large amount of bleeding. The prosecution team was of the opinion that Bundy cut his victim's throat using a hunting knife that he had purchased the day before.

In 1980, Bundy was found guilty of Leach's murder and sentenced to death.
