The restaurant where Jimmy Hoffa was last seen
This is the restaurant where union leader Jimmy Hoffa was last seen.
It is located at 6676 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
During the 1970s, it was known as the Red Fox restaurant. The building now houses an Italian steakhouse called Andiamo.

Background
Hoffa served as president of the Teamsters union between 1957 and 1971.
He had deep ties to the Mafia and reportedly used his connections to consolidate his power over the organization.
In 1967, a judge sentenced him to 13 years in prison for jury tampering, wire fraud, and improper use of the union's pension fund.
Hoffa resigned as Teamsters president while serving his sentence. He was released in 1971 on the condition that he could not manage any trade unions until 1980. However, he refused to accept this restriction, arguing he never agreed to it.
Tensions with Mafia figures
Although Hoffa hoped to regain leadership of the union, senior Mafia members opposed this idea. They viewed Hoffa's tight management as a potential threat to their control over the fund and believed the current president was easier to influence.

Genovese crime family capo Anthony Provenzano vehemently opposed Hoffa's attempt to reclaim the presidency and reportedly threatened him on one occasion.
To resolve the dispute, a Detroit-based mobster named Anthony Giacalone organized a peace meeting at the Red Fox restaurant.
Disappearance
On July 30, 1975, Hoffa traveled to the venue for the sit-down, which was scheduled for 2 p.m.
Hoffa was furious when Provenzano and Giacalone failed to arrive on time.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., he walked to a payphone in front of the nearby Damman Hardware store and called his wife. He told her the other men were late, complained about being stood up, and said he would be home around 4 p.m.

Several people reported seeing Hoffa pacing the parking lot while waiting for the mobsters.

Just before 3 p.m., witnesses observed him getting into a maroon vehicle with a group of men. This was the last time anyone reported seeing him alive.
Authorities believe Hoffa was lured to a nearby house and murdered.

Following Hoffa's disappearance, both Giacalone and Provenzano denied scheduling the meeting. Investigators later discovered neither man was near the restaurant that day.
Experts have theorized that Hoffa was murdered and cremated. So far, dozens of excavations in the Detroit area have failed to uncover any trace of his remains.
Seven years later, he was legally declared dead. To this day, his final resting place remains unknown.

The Irishman
In 2019, the restaurant was featured in the crime drama film The Irishman.

The movie did not use the real location. Instead, the production team recreated the Red Fox near Suffern, New York. They also positioned the payphone on the side of the building rather than at the back.
