The alley where Candice Welch was found
This is the alley where Candice Welch was found.
It is located in the 300 block of Goodman Street in Bakersfield, California.
The alley runs between Alta Vista Drive and North Inyo Street.
Welch's remains were discovered in a trash can in the middle of the alley on the night of May 5, 2020. A coroner's report determined that she had died of asphyxia due to gagging.

Her father, Perry Welch, said that her killer cut her tattoos and "crushed" her hands and face with "something."
This may have been a hasty attempt to hinder her identification.
The crime scene was just one block away from her father's house in East Bakersfield.

Perry told KGET News in December 2020 that he was in Pismo Beach on the day of his daughter's death.
He suspects her murder may have occurred at his home while he was out of town.
During the same interview, he also claimed that a group of men pulled up in front of him and told him to stop asking questions about his daughter:
"They tell me, 'You need to stop asking questions about your daughter, or you'll end up just like her.'"
Although Perry said his daughter had a history of drug abuse, he was not sure if her death was drug-related.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that it is an ongoing homicide investigation. However, they have released very few details about the case.
Welch's murder remains unsolved.
